BRENNA SAMARIN

OWNER/PRODUCER

Hey guys thought I would give you a little information about myself, and my equine background.

I have been a horse lover since I as long as I can remember, and it all began with trail/beach riding in Cannon Beach, Oregon while on vacation.  I was the rider of the group that wanted the fastest, flashiest horse they had.  I had a need for speed, and the feeling of the wind whipping through your hair while riding the shoreline at sunset is a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life.  Little did my parents know that this vacation activity would turn into a downright obsession!  I started taking formal dressage lessons at the age of 9 at a beautiful dressage barn in Nanaimo, BC.  I rode there for a few years until the adrenaline bug came back, this time I wanted to start jumping!  I moved to an amazing jumping barn and rode the sweetest lesson pony who was fully blind... YES THE FIRST HORSE I JUMPED ON COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING! He was very trained, but it was still extremely exhilarating.  Fast forward a few years to where I found my best friend Rory (shown on the left).  He was a tall wild Hanoverian/TB that was said to be a son of the famous Gouverneur stallion.  He was dumped at my coaches barn, and my family happily paid his 'ransom', and I still have him to this day, 2018 will mark his 33rd birthday!  He truly is my best friend and extremely co-dependant on his wife Legacy.  The other horse in the photo is my gelding Lightning.  I bought him as a little 2 year old and trained him from the ground up.  When I found out I was pregnant I knew that Lightning would be the perfect mount for my unborn child.  However as my son grew up and Lightning grew older, I knew that arena based work was not in his heart.  My son was still to young to take Lightning out on an adventure alone, and without another riding horse I couldn't accompany him.  He is no longer in the family, but is very near and dear to me.  He is living the life of wild west horse up in the mountains of Norther British Columbia!  Then we found Legacy Hazel.  A big, bold, flashy warmblood mare being used as a pack horse in those same mountains.  I knew I had to have her, and bring her back into the spotlight of the dressage ring.  She is still a work in progress, as she is still lacking confidence, and we have only just begun our journey into a beautiful partnership.  I will always be around horses, as it is not a full on addiction.

#LegacyHazel someone needs a serious bath!!! My little mud loving girl!

LEGACY HAZEL

PRODUCT MUSE, MODEL, AND INSPIRATION

This is my show horse Legacy Hazel.  She is an Andalusian/Hanoverian registered CWBA.  This lady right here is the reason that Bijoux Equestrian Canada was created!  She is such a princess, and I needed to give her the spoilt life she deserved.  Her birthday was coming up so I looked high and low for a full bling bridle fit for a queen, but could not find anything.  Finally one day I stumbled across one from a company in Europe and bought it that day.  When it arrived I was devastated! The quality was nothing that I had been expecting, the plasict rhinestone trimming was only tapped on to a flat bridle with crafting double sided tape.  I went to go talk to the company, but they seemed to vanish overnight.  I knew that I would have to create something custom for myself to get the jewels my princess desrerved.  I couldnt just make a bridle for myself, I truly wanted to share the glitz & glamour with the rest of the world that was backed by amazing quality and construction, and that lead to the building of Bijoux Equestrian Canada!
